Ghana’s Black Meteors were held to a 2-2 draw by Ghana Premier League side Vision FC in a friendly match at the University of Ghana (UG) Stadium on Friday, August 14, 2026, as preparations for the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers continue.
The game provided head coach Desmond Ofei with another opportunity to assess his squad, test different tactical combinations and improve the team’s match fitness ahead of the qualification campaign.
The Black Meteors took control in the second half, scoring twice in quick succession.
Owusu Agyapong opened the scoring in the 64th minute before Sherrif Alabani doubled Ghana’s advantage six minutes later.
However, Vision FC mounted a strong comeback after the Black Meteors were reduced to 10 men.
The Premier League side capitalised on the numerical advantage to score twice from the penalty spot, completing the comeback and securing a share of the spoils.
Despite surrendering the lead, the encounter offered Coach Ofei valuable insights into the squad as he continues to shape the team ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
The Black Meteors are preparing for the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to be hosted by Egypt in November 2027.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has earmarked the September and November 2026 FIFA windows for the U-23 AFCON qualifying rounds, although the exact fixtures are yet to be confirmed by the continental football governing body.
