Energy Minister, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has initiated urgent consultations with major players in the petroleum industry to evaluate possible risks to the country’s fuel supply following escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The meeting assembled officials from the National Petroleum Authority, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, BOST, as well as Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies and Oil Marketing Companies.
Discussions examined potential supply chain interruptions, rising freight costs and instability in global crude prices, with a focus on how these factors could affect local fuel availability and pricing.
Dr. Jinapor instructed regulators to heighten market monitoring and work closely with industry operators to prevent shortages.
He also urged agencies to maintain adequate fuel reserves and ensure uninterrupted nationwide distribution.
The Ministry reaffirmed government’s commitment to safeguarding energy security and minimising any hardship to consumers as it continues to track international developments.
