Former Inspector-General of Police Paul Tawiah Quaye has reportedly passed away after a period of illness, according to multiple reports.
Details surrounding his death remain limited, with official confirmation from the family yet to be fully formalised.
However, tributes have begun pouring in from senior police officers and colleagues who have described him as a dedicated and disciplined leader.
Mr. Quaye was appointed IGP in 2009 by the late John Evans Atta Mills and served until 2013.
During his tenure, he was credited with implementing reforms aimed at strengthening discipline within the Ghana Police Service and restoring public confidence in law enforcement.
Known for his calm personality and firm leadership style, he earned the reputation of a “gentle giant” among his peers.
He retired from active service in February 2013 after rising through the ranks, including serving as Commissioner in charge of Research and Planning before his appointment as IGP.
