“The Western Regional Police command is on the manhunt for a gang of armed robbers who attacked a gold buying shop and robbed them of unspecified amount of money and injured one person in the Mpohor District in the Western Region on Saturday 16/08/25.One suspect has been picked and is assisting in the investigation, whilst strenuous efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects.”
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service revealed that the Anti-Armed Robbery Response Unit (AARU) foiled another robbery attempt last Friday at the MRB Rural Bank in Winneba, Central Region.
The police said the bank’s alarm system alerted a patrol team around 1 a.m., prompting a swift response.
The robbers opened fire on officers, but after an exchange of gunfire, they fled into the night, abandoning a pump-action gun and other equipment at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest the foiled bank attack was carried out by five armed men whose operations bear similarities to earlier rural bank robberies.
Police intelligence indicates the gang may be hiding in Kumasi, where a surveillance team is currently tracking their movements.
The police have reiterated their commitment to pursuing the culprits behind both incidents and maintaining public safety.
