Deputy Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, and Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, has praised Ghana’s remarkable progress in the communications and digital technology sector.
Speaking at the official launch of the AiAfrica Research and Publication Lab and the graduation ceremony for Ghana’s second cohort of AiPlatinum Trainers on Tuesday, August 12, at the Accra Digital Center, Mr. Sukparu represented President John Dramani Mahama at the event hailed the system.
The AiAfrica Research and Publication Lab focuses on AI-driven research, modelling, simulation, peer-reviewed publications of sector-specific AI use cases, and training AI-literate academic writers.

It forms part of the broader Pan-African AiAfrica Lab framework, which aims to train 11 million Africans — including one million prompt engineers — and integrate them into 15 applied sectoral labs aligned to 200 economic sectors across 54 African countries.
Mr. Sukparu highlighted the government’s commitment to placing digital technology and innovation at the core of national development, driving productivity, expanding economic opportunities, and deepening citizen participation.

He outlined key initiatives already underway, such as the One Million Coders Programme, the Draft National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, the AI Ministerial Bootcamp, the Girls-In-ICT Programme, and the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill, currently under review — all of which align with the AiAfrica Project’s vision.
“I used the opportunity to underscore how the government of Ghana has placed digital technology and innovation at the heart of national development aimed at driving productivity, expanding economic opportunities and deepening citizenship participation. I pointed out that the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has made remarkable strides such as the One Million Coders Programme, the Draft National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, the AI Ministerial Bootcamp, Girls-In-ICT Programme, the under review Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill which are in consonance with the AiAfrica Project.”

While congratulating the 250 graduates of the AiPlatinum Trainers programme, Mr. Sukparu reaffirmed President Mahama’s strong support for AI as a driver of national development and a catalyst for the recently launched 24-Hour Economic Policy.
