The mortal remains of Bashiru Isak, the Ghanaian national who was tragically killed during recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa, have arrived in Ghana.
The body was received by state officials and members of the bereaved family before being conveyed to the 37 Military Hospital, where it has been deposited ahead of further arrangements.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the arrival, stating that the Government of Ghana remains committed to ensuring justice for the late Bashiru Isak and his family.
Bashiru Isak was fatally shot in Cape Town during incidents linked to xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals in South Africa, sparking calls for swift investigations and accountability.
The Ghanaian government has formally called on South African authorities to expedite investigations into the killing and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Government officials have stressed that there must be no room for silence or cover-ups, insisting that the circumstances surrounding the death must be fully investigated and addressed.
The incident has renewed concerns about the safety and protection of Ghanaian nationals and other African migrants living and working in South Africa.
Authorities have assured the family and the public that Ghana will continue to engage with South African counterparts to pursue justice and protect the rights and dignity of its citizens abroad.
