The government has opened a public platform for Ghanaians to send condolences and tributes in honour of the eight officials who perished in the August 6 military helicopter crash.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 11, 2025, Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced that the tributes will be compiled into an official state funeral brochure.
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, August 13, at 12:00 PM GMT. Messages can be sent via email to [tributes@presidency.gov.gh] (mailto:tributes@presidency.gov.gh).
The statement urged individuals, institutions, and the public to “come together in remembrance and honour the lives of those we so sadly lost.”
The state funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square, beginning at 8:00 AM.
The tragic crash claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Two of the victims, both Muslims, were laid to rest on Sunday, August 10, at the Military Cemetery in accordance with Islamic rites.
