Dr Razak Kojo Opoku questions significance of conflicting signatures in South Africa evacuee list

New Patriotic Party (NPP) strategist and lecturer, Dr Razak Kojo Opoku has questioned the emphasis placed on allegedly conflicting signatures on a list of Ghanaians repatriated from South Africa who received integration support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration.

Dr Opoku argued that individuals may struggle to reproduce their signatures consistently across different documents, suggesting that variations in signatures should be considered within the broader circumstances surrounding the repatriation exercise.

He questioned the literacy levels of the individuals involved, asking how many of those repatriated from South Africa were literate and how many were illiterate.

According to him, the proportion of literate and illiterate individuals among the evacuees could provide additional context for assessing the concerns raised over the signatures.

Dr Opoku’s comments add to the ongoing debate over allegations of forged signatures on documents relating to the evacuees who received integration support from the ministry.

However, the literacy levels of the individuals involved, as well as the nature and extent of the alleged signature discrepancies, would need to be established to determine their relevance to the concerns being raised.
