Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dzifa Tegah, has declared her intention to contest the position of Deputy General Secretary in the party’s upcoming national executive elections.
Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson on Accra FM’s morning show, Ghana Yensom, Ms Tegah said her work in the party’s women’s wing had helped make it more attractive to young women.
“I made the women’s wing attractive for the young girls,” she said.
Ms Tegah said her decision to contest the position was informed by her experience in grassroots mobilisation, party organisation and engagement with members across the country.
She believes her experience in the women’s wing has prepared her to take on a broader administrative role at the party’s national secretariat.
Ms Tegah said her leadership would prioritise strengthening communication between the national secretariat and grassroots members, improving administrative efficiency and promoting greater inclusion in party activities.
“I will bring the Secretariat closer to every member of the NDC,” she previously stated during the declaration of her candidacy at Rawlings House in Accra.
She is positioning her campaign around fresh ideas, inclusive leadership and stronger party structures as the NDC prepares for the 2028 general elections.
Ms Tegah has appealed to delegates to support her candidature, pledging to deepen grassroots participation and ensure that party members have a stronger sense of belonging and involvement in the party’s activities.
The NDC is expected to hold its national executive elections on December 19, 2026, with eleven people reportedly having picked nomination forms to contest the Deputy General Secretary position.
The elections are expected to produce national officers responsible for coordinating party activities, strengthening organisational structures and mobilising members ahead of the next general elections.
Ms Tegah’s bid forms part of the contest for leadership positions within the party as it prepares for the next phase of its political and organisational activities.
