NDC Deputy Communications Officer Godwin Ako Gunn has cautioned newly elected party executives against making unauthorised public comments on sensitive issues following the party’s constituency executive elections.
The NDC held its constituency executive elections on Saturday, October 24, to elect officers who will oversee party activities at the grassroots level.
In a statement congratulating the winners, Ako Gunn urged the new executives to exercise restraint in their public comments, warning that their remarks could create difficulties for the party’s communication team.
“I will be the first to admit that our communicators had a difficult time last week. An allegation against our former Constituency Secretary threw us into disarray,” he said.
He urged the executives to seek clearance before commenting on sensitive matters, stressing that their statements could have consequences for both themselves and the party.
“Exercise your right to remain silent when necessary and seek clearance before commenting on sensitive matters. Otherwise, anything you say could be used against you and the party,” he stated.
Ako Gunn also called on the newly elected officers to demonstrate accountability, exercise emotional intelligence and work together to strengthen the party.
“Always remember that leadership is a four-year marathon, not a sprint. Working together as a team will help us reach the finish line successfully and secure more seats for the party,” he said.
He further encouraged unsuccessful candidates to support the newly elected executives and remain committed to the NDC’s progress.
“To those who could not make it, hold your heads high. Support the newly elected executives with dignity and continue to contribute to the party’s progress,” he added.
