The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has hosted a three-member delegation from the Eswatini National Petroleum Company (ENPC) as part of a technical study visit aimed at promoting knowledge-sharing and strengthening cooperation within Africa’s petroleum sector.
The visit provided the Eswatini delegation with an opportunity to gain insights into Ghana’s downstream petroleum industry and the regulatory systems developed by the NPA to promote efficiency, product quality, safety and effective industry oversight.
The ENPC delegation comprised Board Member Dumezweni Dlamini, Chief Executive Officer Nontombi Motsa, and General Manager for Strategy and Communications, Musa Shongwe.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the NPA Chief Executive, Director of Quality Assurance Setsoafia K. Agbenoto stressed the importance of knowledge-sharing among African petroleum institutions as countries seek to strengthen energy security and build resilient petroleum industries.
The technical study visit forms part of a broader programme by ENPC to learn from Ghana’s experience in developing and managing its petroleum industry.
During their stay in Ghana, the delegation engaged with institutions across the petroleum value chain as part of efforts by ENPC to strengthen its institutional and operational capacity.
Responding on behalf of the delegation, Mr. Dlamini thanked the NPA for the warm reception and its willingness to share knowledge and best practices with ENPC.
ENPC, Eswatini’s national oil company, is mandated to contribute to the security of petroleum product supply through the sourcing, storage and trading of petroleum products.
The visit highlights the growing importance of technical cooperation and peer learning among African petroleum institutions as countries work to strengthen their downstream sectors and improve energy security.
