The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining price and financial stability as the foundation for sustainable economic growth, investment and job creation.
The Governor of the Bank, Dr Johnson Pundit Asiama, made the commitment at the Canada-Ghana Chamber of Commerce’s CEOs’ Connect 2026 Business Breakfast Summit, which brought together business leaders, investors and diplomats under the theme, “Financing the Future: Capital Strategies for Cross-Border Business Expansion.”
The BoG said financing the future must begin with getting the fundamentals of the economy right, highlighting recent progress in inflation, the stability of the Cedi and the resilience of the banking sector.
According to the Bank, inflation is now below the medium-term target, while the cedi has remained resilient and the banking sector continues to maintain strong capital and liquidity positions.
It said these developments reflected the Bank’s core mandate of ensuring price and financial stability, which it described as the foundation for sustainable economic activity.
The BoG stressed that economic stability has a direct impact on the lives of ordinary Ghanaians by helping to make prices more predictable, protect the value of savings and give businesses greater confidence to invest and create jobs.
The Bank said it was also working to deepen capital markets, expand financing opportunities for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), and support safe innovation in the fintech sector.
These measures, he noted, were aimed at translating macroeconomic stability into tangible improvements in livelihoods and creating greater opportunities for businesses, investors and citizens.
The BoG said its participation in business and investment forums such as the CEOs’ Connect summit demonstrates its continued engagement with the private sector and its commitment to ensuring that hard-won economic stability supports broader and more inclusive growth.
He reaffirmed that maintaining a stable economic and financial environment remains central to creating the conditions needed for investment, enterprise development and job creation in Ghana.
