NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has raised serious concerns regarding the Electoral Commission’s (EC) plans to begin printing ballot papers for the upcoming 2024 elections without first releasing the Final Voter Register for scrutiny by political parties.

Speaking at a Press Conference at Ho the Volta Regional Capital, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah criticized the EC for its lack of transparency, stating, “It is unacceptable to start the ballot printing process without providing the finalized Voter Register to us. This register is crucial for ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.”

He emphasized that the absence of a certified Voter Register undermines the credibility of the elections. “Political parties must have access to this document to ensure fairness and accountability. The opportunity we gave the EC to produce a finalized register has been abused,” he added.

The NDC Chairman reiterated the significance of the register in relation to ballot printing, noting that any errors in the voter list could significantly impact the election outcome. “Without accurate polling station codes and the total number of voters, what basis do they have for proceeding?” he questioned.

Asiedu Nketiah urged Ghanaians and stakeholders to understand the NDC’s stance on this issue. “We must call out the EC now before they jeopardize our democracy,” he asserted.

He concluded by reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to ensuring a transparent electoral process and urged the EC to prioritize the release of the Final Voter Register to foster trust among all political parties.
