The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has initiated discussions with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) to forge a strategic partnership aimed at expanding public awareness and education on specialised healthcare and Non-Communicable Diseases across the country.
The engagement brought together the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko Opoku, and her team with the Director-General of GBC, Prof. Amin Alhassan, and the corporation’s leadership.
The meeting forms part of the Trust Fund’s broader efforts to ensure that critical and life-saving healthcare information reaches citizens in every part of Ghana, particularly as it works to improve access to specialised healthcare services.
During the discussions, both institutions explored ways of leveraging GBC’s extensive nationwide reach to educate the public on Non-Communicable Diseases, available support systems, and the role of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund in providing assistance to patients.
As Ghana’s national broadcaster, GBC operates six television channels and 17 FM radio stations, delivering content in 27 Ghanaian languages.
The corporation’s extensive network is expected to play a key role in connecting healthcare information to communities across all regions of the country.
Prof. Alhassan pledged GBC’s support for the initiative, expressing the broadcaster’s commitment to helping disseminate vital health information and raising awareness about the challenges posed by Non-Communicable Diseases.
The partnership is expected to support the Trust Fund’s mission of promoting healthcare access and ensuring that citizens are well informed about available medical support and treatment options.
