Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has revealed troubling findings of recycled invoices—some of which originated from the Ministry of Roads and Highways during the erstwhile New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
Speaking during a post-budget interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Friday, July 25, he stated that the Ministry has begun a deeper probe into questionable payment claims submitted for settlement.
“Some of the things we’ve picked up at the Ministry of Finance are the fact that we’ve seen a number of recycled invoices,” he disclosed. “And some came from the Ministry of Roads.”
According to Dr. Forson, the anomaly was initially flagged by the now Minister of Roads, Governs Agbodza, who raised concerns over duplicated invoices that had made their way into the payment pipeline.
“The Minister of Roads himself informed us that he picked this up, so we should investigate those ones,” Dr. Forson said.
