The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will hold a balloting exercise on Friday, October 10, 2025, to determine the order of candidates on the ballot paper for its upcoming presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.
The event, slated for 11:00 a.m. at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, forms part of preparations toward what the party describes as a transparent and credible internal electoral process.
In an official letter signed by William Yamoah, Secretary to the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, the party congratulated all aspirants on successfully completing the vetting process and invited them to participate in the balloting exercise.
“I bring you warm greetings from the Presidential Elections Committee and congratulate you on a successful vetting outcome,” the statement read.
“The Chairman of the Committee has directed me to extend an invitation for your participation in a balloting process to determine your positions on the ballot paper for the upcoming January 31st Presidential Primary.”
The party urged all aspirants to confirm receipt of the invitation and assured them of its commitment to fairness, openness, and unity ahead of the primaries.
The five aspirants expected to participate in the draw include:
- Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong
- Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong
- Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong
- H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
- Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum
Copies of the invitation have been distributed to the General Secretary, Acting National Chairman, and the Chairman of the Presidential Elections Committee.
The statement also reaffirmed the Committee’s readiness to engage all aspirants and address any concerns prior to the event, emphasizing that the process represents “another milestone in strengthening the NPP’s democratic tradition.”
The upcoming January 31, 2026, presidential primary will officially determine who leads the NPP into the 2028 general elections.
