President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has arrived in Ghana for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
President John Dramani Mahama received the Gabonese leader at the Jubilee Lounge of the Accra International Airport on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, marking the start of the visit, which ends on July 30.
The welcoming delegation included Chief of Staff Dr Julius Debrah, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, alongside other senior government officials.
President Nguema inspected a guard of honour upon his arrival before being welcomed by members of the Gabonese community in Ghana.
As part of his itinerary, the Gabonese President is expected to visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park before holding a private meeting with President Mahama.
The two leaders will subsequently lead their respective delegations in bilateral talks at Jubilee House as Ghana and Gabon seek to expand cooperation across several sectors.
The discussions are expected to cover trade and investment, mining, energy, agriculture, forestry, fisheries and maritime affairs.
Transport, tourism, education, health, defence and security, environmental protection and climate action are also expected to feature prominently in the talks.
The two countries will further explore opportunities to strengthen people-to-people relations as part of efforts to deepen their longstanding ties.
The three-day visit is expected to reinforce Ghana and Gabon’s commitment to stronger bilateral cooperation and explore new opportunities for sustainable economic development.
