Accra Hearts of Oak has denied reports of a crisis within the club over players’ welfare, insisting that management continues to provide adequate meals and other support for players and officials.
In a press statement dated October 8, 2026, the club said there was no crisis regarding players’ welfare, urging supporters and other stakeholders to disregard reports suggesting that players were not being fed adequately before and on matchdays.
The club maintained that it takes pride in providing employment and welfare packages that compare favourably with those of other teams within the prevailing economic conditions.
“The welfare of our players and officials remains paramount,” the statement said, adding that management was committed to ensuring that the team remained motivated and in the right condition to perform at the highest level.
The Phobians outlined their feeding arrangements for home and away matches to counter the reports circulating in the media.
According to management, players selected for home matches, who remain in the club’s accommodation, are provided with dinner on the eve of the match, followed by breakfast, lunch and dinner on matchday.
For away fixtures, the club said players and officials receive three meals on both the day before the match and matchday.
Management appealed to supporters and other stakeholders to disregard claims that the club had failed to provide meals for its players during these periods.
Hearts of Oak stressed that the welfare of players, the technical team and other staff remained a key priority, adding that it would continue to explore ways to improve their working conditions.
The club said its commitment to maintaining good welfare standards formed part of its broader ambition to achieve success both locally and on the continent.
The statement was signed by Hearts of Oak management, which includes Togbe Afede XIV, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, Ivy Heward-Mills, Prof. Agyeman Badu Akosa, Akwasi Agyeman, Ing.
