Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, has alleged that the MP for Abetifi, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, is preparing to contest for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidacy ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to the media, Appiah-Kubi revealed that internal deliberations and strategic groundwork are already underway to position Dr. Acheampong as the party’s next flagbearer.
He described the former Minister for Food and Agriculture as a unifying figure and the ideal candidate to reinvigorate the NPP and lead it to electoral victory.
Highlighting Dr. Acheampong’s strengths, the former MP pointed to his dual experience in academia and business, arguing that these qualities make him uniquely suited for leadership at the highest level.
Appiah-Kubi also emphasized the need for unity within the party, stressing that resolving internal divisions would be key to the NPP’s success in the 2028 elections.
“The task on our hearts is to present a great candidate who can redeem our party, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong is preparing himself for that mission. He will speak for himself in due course, but I am only a messenger. From what I know, he is the one—and his work speaks volumes,” he said.
“If we are looking for a candidate with intellectual prowess, Bryan is the one. If we want a successful business mogul, he’s that too. So with him, we’re killing two birds with one stone… he is a symbol of victory,” he added.
Dr. Acheampong is yet to officially declared his intention to run as the party’s flagbearer.
