The Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals in connection with the abuse of an 11-year-old girl, following the circulation of a viral video showing the assault.
The arrests took place in Agona Jamasi in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects, Grace Mensah and Godfred Osei Akoto, were apprehended by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after swift investigations traced the incident to the community. Preliminary reports indicate that the girl had gone missing on December 6, 2025, before the abuse occurred.

According to the police, Godfred Osei Akoto claimed he had the grandmother’s authorisation to physically discipline the child. The girl has since been rescued and is under protection while investigations continue.
Both suspects have been handed over to the Mampong Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit for further inquiry.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding children and taking decisive action against all forms of abuse.

Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department, signed the statement confirming the arrests and ongoing investigations.
