The Dodowa–Afienya–Dawhenya road, a flagship project under his government’s Big Push infrastructure programme, is expected to be completed within 24 months.

This was announced by President John Dramani Mahama during the sod-cutting ceremony for the 24.8km main corridor and 3km of selected town roads under the Big Push agenda on Tuesday, September 16.

President Mahama praised the contractor, Oswal Investment Limited, for its speed and quality in delivering major road projects.

“We have given him 24 months to finish, but he has whispered in my ear that he will do it in less than 24 months,” the President said, assuring residents that payment for the project will not be an issue.

The road, which forms a crucial part of the Greater Accra transport network, will improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost socio-economic activities in the Dodowa–Afienya–Dawhenya corridor.

President Mahama emphasized that the Big Push initiative, first promised in 2020 and revived after his re-election in 2024, aims to address Ghana’s infrastructure deficit by delivering fast, high-quality road projects nationwide.

He assured the public that despite challenges in the road sector, including significant contractor debt, the government remains committed to completing projects on time and ensuring efficiency.

The government has allocated GH₵13.85 billion (US$892.9 million) to the Big Push programme to transform Ghana’s road infrastructure.
