Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced an interruption in water supply to parts of Accra following the shutdown of the Weija Treatment Plant for urgent repair works.
The company, in a statement on Tuesday, July 2, 2025, explained that the shutdown is necessary to carry out emergency repairs on critical pipelines that deliver water to several western parts of the capital.
The repair works, which commenced at 10:00 am, are expected to last until 5:00 pm, leaving many households and businesses without water during this period.
The affected areas include Korle-Bu, Dansoman, Mamprobi, Weija, Gbawe, Malam, Anyaa, Kwashieman, Ablekuma, Darkuman, Kaneshie, Tesano, Odorkor, Sowutuom, Lapaz, parts of Achimota, North Industrial Area, and nearby communities.
GWL has apologised for the inconvenience the disruption will cause, assuring residents that engineers are working around the clock to restore supply as quickly as possible.

Residents in the affected areas have been advised to conserve water while the repair works are underway.
