Finance Minister Dr.Cassiel Ato Forson has declared that Ghana has turned the tide and is on the path to recovery, urging government officials and Members of Parliament to remain focused on delivering results for the people.
He said the government had a responsibility to meet the expectations of Ghanaians, reminding members of the governing administration of the circumstances that led to their election.
Speaking about the government’s mandate, Dr. Ato Forson stressed that the administration must not lose sight of the economic challenges Ghana faced when President John Dramani Mahama and his parliamentary colleagues were elected.
“Together, we have a responsibility, a responsibility to work to the satisfaction of the people of Ghana,” he said.
“We were elected to come and save a country in crisis. Don’t forget that.”
The Finance Minister said President Mahama and the governing Members of Parliament were given the mandate to address the country’s difficulties and improve conditions for Ghanaians.
He urged them to remain mindful of that responsibility as they continue to carry out their duties.
“President Mahama and his members of parliament were elected to save this country because Ghana was in a crisis,” Dr. Ato Forson said.
“Let us not forget that.”
He made emphasis on the importance of maintaining a clear sense of purpose as the administration works to address the country’s economic challenges.
Dr. Ato Forson expressed optimism about Ghana’s current direction, saying the country had made progress and was moving towards a stronger economic position.
“Today, we have turned the tide,” he stated.
“We are moving in the right direction and I can assure you that based on the foundation that we have laid, this country is ready to take off.”
He called for continued commitment to the needs of the Ghanaian people, stressing that the administration’s mandate should remain a guiding principle in its work.
While the Finance Minister expressed confidence that Ghana was moving in the right direction, the impact of the government’s policies will ultimately be reflected in economic outcomes and the living conditions of citizens.
For now, Dr. Ato Forson has urged members of the administration not to forget the challenges that brought them into office, maintaining that the country has laid a foundation for a stronger economic future.
