Emmanuel Okai Mintah, an aspirant for the National Youth Organizer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed to help the party retain every parliamentary seat won by first-time MPs in the 2024 general elections, challenging the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prepare for a tougher contest in 2028.
Speaking on TV XYZ, Okai Mintah was responding to remarks he attributed to the NPP’s new National Organizer about reclaiming 70 seats from the NDC in the next general elections.
“I heard the new NPP National Organizer saying he will make sure he secures 70 seats back from the NDC in the 2028 election. He should know that we are already on the street; he is now coming,” he said.
He said the NDC’s youth wing had already begun preparations for the 2028 polls and would intensify grassroots mobilisation to protect the party’s electoral gains.
“I will make sure we retain every first-time MP seat the NDC secured in the 2024 election,” he said.
Okai Mintah credited the party’s youth structures with contributing significantly to its 2024 victory, claiming that he personally distributed 233 projectors to 233 constituencies during the campaign.
He also cited his involvement in motorbike distribution efforts and the establishment of pilot youth farms while serving as Eastern Regional Youth Organizer.
“Whatever we did for victory in 2024, we’ll do much more for victory in 2028,” he said.
Beyond electoral mobilisation, Okai Mintah pledged to make the NDC National Youth Wing more responsive to young party members.
He announced plans to establish a Correspondence Desk on December 13, 2026, to provide a channel for young people to raise concerns and seek assistance.
“When I become National Youth Organizer, genuine concerns will never be left unattended to,” he said.
He added that the youth wing must focus on practical ideas and initiatives to sustain the party’s support.
“In modern Ghana, we don’t use strength for elections but ideas,” he said.
Okai Mintah also highlighted the youth wing’s contribution to the NDC’s manifesto, including proposals such as the 24-hour economy and the No Fee Stress policy.
The aspirant chairs the NDC’s National Youth Working Committee, inaugurated in October 2023 to support youth mobilisation ahead of the 2024 elections.
He said his experience in the party’s youth structures had prepared him to lead the wing into the 2028 polls and help protect the NDC’s parliamentary gains.
