The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has replaced 317 passports free of charge for victims of the recent floods as part of a government initiative to support affected residents.
The free passport replacement programme, introduced for flood victims, has so far processed and replaced the documents following the completion of stringent security and validation procedures.
The Ministry said the measures were necessary to verify applicants and protect the integrity of Ghana’s passport system before replacement documents were issued.
It added that more passport replacements are currently underway as additional flood victims go through the required verification processes.
The initiative forms part of government’s support measures for communities and individuals affected by the recent flooding.
The Ministry described the intervention as part of the government’s broader commitment to responding to the needs of affected citizens with compassion.
The programme is being implemented under the government’s “Resetting with Compassion” agenda.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that eligible flood victims receive the necessary assistance while maintaining the security and credibility of Ghana’s passport system.
