Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has inaugurated a Steering Committee to oversee the development of Ghana’s Petroleum Downstream Infrastructure Master Plan (PDIMP).
The initiative is aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps within the petroleum downstream sector and improving the efficiency and utilisation of existing infrastructure.
Dr Jinapor said the Master Plan would also strengthen downstream petroleum logistics and create a more predictable environment for investment in the sector.
According to the Minister, the development of the DIMP forms part of efforts to position Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry to effectively respond to future energy needs while supporting economic growth and strengthening national energy security.
He said the objective was to develop a practical and implementable roadmap that would provide clear direction for the sector’s infrastructure development.
“The Master Plan is a critical step towards addressing infrastructure gaps, improving the efficiency and utilisation of existing assets, strengthening downstream petroleum logistics, and creating a more predictable environment for investment,” Dr Jinapor stated.
He said the completed plan was expected to guide government policy, inform investment decisions and support the long-term transformation of Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.
Dr Jinapor expressed confidence in the ability of the newly inaugurated Steering Committee to deliver a comprehensive plan capable of addressing existing challenges while preparing the sector for future demands.
“I look forward to the Committee delivering a Plan that will guide policy, inform investment decisions and drive meaningful transformation in Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector,” he added.
The development of the Master Plan is expected to provide a coordinated framework for investment in petroleum downstream infrastructure and contribute to a more efficient, resilient and secure energy system.
