Efforts to strengthen access to specialised healthcare in Ghana have taken a new step, with stakeholders holding engagements in Kumasi aimed at bringing medical services closer to communities.
The day began with a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional Minister and his team, where discussions focused on the role of the proposed Ghana Medical Trust Fund in improving access to life-saving specialised care for residents of the Ashanti Region and surrounding areas.
The meeting was marked by expressions of optimism and a shared commitment among stakeholders to ensure that no Ghanaian is denied critical healthcare due to lack of access or resources.
Participants highlighted the importance of collaboration between government institutions and local authorities in advancing the initiative.
The GMTF delegation led by the Administrator, Adwoa Oboubia Darko -Opoku is also expected to engage the National House of Chiefs, where discussions will centre on the role of traditional leaders in supporting public education and community sensitisation on the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
According to GMTF, chiefs remain key partners in community mobilisation and are expected to play a crucial role in extending awareness of the initiative to grassroots levels across the country.
The engagements form part of broader efforts to build partnerships and strengthen support systems for the rollout of the fund, which is aimed at improving access to specialised healthcare services nationwide.
