The Technical Director of Forestry at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Joseph Osiakwan, on Monday, June 29, 2026, presented relief items to flood victims in Samreboi on behalf of the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, President John Dramani Mahama, and the Forestry Commission.
The donation was aimed at supporting families affected by recent flooding in the area and forms part of ongoing government relief efforts.
The items included 20 camp beds, 200 pairs of Wellington boots, 100 raincoats, 600 cutlasses, 130 mosquito nets, 100 bags of rice, 50 boxes of cooking oil, 50 boxes of canned mackerel, and 50 boxes of canned tomatoes.
Presenting the items, Mr. Osiakwan said the support was meant to assure affected residents that government stands with them during the difficult period and remains committed to assisting flood-hit communities.
He also encouraged residents and local leaders to take proactive steps to address the root causes of flooding to prevent future occurrences.
The event was attended by the Board Chair of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Isaac Essien, along with senior officials including the Acting Executive Directors of the Timber Industry Development Division and the Forestry Services Division, as well as representatives of Samartex Timber Company and Forestry Commission staff from the Asankragwa office.
