Chelsea FC have sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after just over three months in charge, following a poor run of results that saw the club slide down the Premier League table.
The decision comes after a string of defeats, including a heavy loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, which extended Chelsea’s losing streak without scoring and left their Champions League hopes in doubt.
Assistant coach Calum McFarlane has been appointed interim manager and will lead the team into their FA Cup semi-final clash against Leeds United at Wembley.
In a statement, the club said the decision was driven by performances “falling below the necessary standards,” adding that a thorough process will be undertaken to appoint a long-term successor.
Rosenior, who replaced Enzo Maresca in January, managed 23 matches in all competitions but struggled for consistency despite guiding the team to the FA Cup semi-finals.
Chelsea have yet to name a permanent replacement, though several candidates are reportedly being considered as the club seeks stability heading into the final stretch of the season.
