The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured Ghanaians that the country has sufficient fuel stocks and that the petroleum supply remains stable despite rising concerns about developments in the global energy market.

In a statement dated Tuesday, March 10, the Authority said it had taken note of growing reports and public commentary suggesting that global market changes could disrupt fuel supply and pricing in Ghana.

“The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has taken note of recent reports, speculation, and public commentary regarding the potential impact of developments in the global energy market on fuel supply and pricing in Ghana,” the statement said.

Following a comprehensive review of the country’s petroleum stock levels and supply arrangements conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and other industry stakeholders, the NPA said adequate stocks are available to meet both current and projected national demand.

“These products include Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), all of which are sufficiently stocked nationwide,” the Authority revealed.

The NPA further noted that government agencies are implementing proactive measures to ensure consistent supply and maintain stability within the petroleum market.

“These measures include continuous monitoring of national stock levels and strategic coordination with International Oil Trading Companies (IOTCs), Bulk Import, Distribution and Export Companies (BIDECs), BOST Energies, and local refineries to ensure timely imports and consistent product availability across the country,” the statement explained.

The assurance comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, which have triggered fears of possible disruptions to global oil production and supply routes.

Despite these developments, the Authority urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, emphasizing that the country’s petroleum supply chain remains fully operational.

“The NPA therefore wishes to reassure the public that there is no cause for alarm or panic buying, as the petroleum supply chain continues to function normally and adequate stocks are available nationwide,” the statement added.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable fuel supply, transparent market operations, and the protection of consumer interests.
