Three students from the Swedru School of Business have been apprehended following a violent incident involving a pupil from Obrachire Senior High Technical School during a recent district athletics competition.
The altercation, which was captured on a viral video, has drawn widespread attention and condemnation.
According to the Central Regional Police Command, the students—identified as Joseph Amoh (20), Benedict Appiah (18), and Bilal Mamud (18)—were handed over to authorities by the school’s management on the evening of February 23, 2026.
They are currently in police custody and are expected to face court proceedings.
The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, engaged directly with Swedru School of Business leadership to ensure swift action following the viral footage.
The Central Regional Police reiterated their strong stance against violence in schools and called on all students to maintain discipline during inter-school activities.
This incident is part of a broader concern over student clashes at inter-school sporting events in the Central Region, prompting the Ghana Education Service to temporarily suspend all such competitions while investigations and safety reviews are ongoing.
