The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has apologised to Ghanaians for its past governance shortcomings, acknowledging that while some progress was achieved, not all decisions and actions met public expectations.
General Secretary of the party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, made this admission during an interview on Channel One TV on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
He stated that the party has taken time to reflect on its performance in office and is committed to learning from its mistakes in order to offer improved leadership if entrusted with power again.
“As a political party, certainly we did our best, but we couldn’t have gotten everything right,” Kodua stated. “And I have always said that on behalf of our then government, our political party, certain things that we could not do right, we apologise for it.”
He assured that the NPP is undergoing internal reforms and preparing to return stronger and more accountable.
“As a party, we are always ready to learn and make sure that when we come back to power, the good things that we did, we will build on. And those mistakes that we made — we will not repeat those mistakes,” he added.
The NPP, which lost the 2024 general elections after serving two consecutive terms, has been re-evaluating its governance track record as part of its bid to recapture power in the 2028 polls.
