The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has confirmed that electricity supply has been fully restored following the successful repair of the 161kV Aboadze–Tarkwa transmission line.
Power to areas affected by the disruption, including key parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions such as Tarkwa and Kumasi, was restored at 13:22 hours of Thursday, October 16, 2025.
In a statement, the Ministry expressed gratitude to residents, businesses, and all stakeholders for their patience during the outage.
“We wish to thank the public, particularly residents and businesses in the Western and Ashanti Regions, especially Tarkwa and Kumasi, for their patience, support, and cooperation during the repair period,” it noted.
The Ministry also commended the technical teams from GRIDCo and partner agencies, acknowledging their dedication and tireless efforts to complete the repair in record time.
Looking ahead, the Ministry reiterated its commitment to enhancing the reliability of the nation’s electricity transmission network and pledged to continue collaborating with sector partners to ensure a stable and efficient power supply across Ghana.
