Parliament has officially set the stage for a fresh parliamentary contest in Kpandai after informing the Electoral Commission that the constituency currently has no valid Member of Parliament.
In a letter dated December 4, 2025, the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, wrote to EC Chairperson Jean Adukwie Mensah, stating that the vacancy arose from a High Court decision ordering a rerun of the 2024 parliamentary election in the constituency.
The High Court in Tamale, in its ruling delivered on November 24, 2025, nullified the earlier election outcome after determining that the process had been fundamentally flawed. The court subsequently directed the Electoral Commission to conduct a new election, effectively stripping the constituency of representation in Parliament.
Following the service of the court order on Parliament, the Clerk invoked constitutional provisions to formally notify the EC, a procedural step required before arrangements can be made for a by-election or rerun.
The development reopens the political contest in Kpandai and places responsibility on the Electoral Commission to move swiftly to comply with the court’s directive and restore parliamentary representation to the constituency.
