Former CEO of the National Petroleum Authority, Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, has declared his intention to contest for the position of National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.
His decision follows growing calls from party members urging him to bring his experience and long-standing involvement in party affairs to the national executive level.
In a statement, he said the move is driven by a desire to serve rather than personal ambition. “This is not an ambition born of personal gain, but a desire to give back to the party,” he noted.
Abdul-Hamid, who has played several roles within the party over the years, said his focus would be on rebuilding and repositioning the party for future success.
Meanwhile, he is currently facing a court case over issues related to his time in public office, a development that adds legal scrutiny to his political ambitions.
Despite the challenge, he expressed confidence in contributing to the party’s reorganisation, calling for unity and strategic renewal as the party prepares for the future.
