Mahama unveils major road development plans for Upper West

President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled an ambitious package of road infrastructure projects and socio-economic development programmes for the Upper West Region under the government’s Big Push initiative, pledging accelerated growth and improved livelihoods for residents.

Speaking at a durbar at the Wa Jubilee Park as part of his thank-you tour, President Mahama expressed gratitude for the region’s overwhelming support in the 2024 elections.

He assured constituents that their loyalty would be rewarded with tangible development, particularly in the areas of roads, agriculture, education, and youth empowerment

The Upper West Region, long hindered by poor infrastructure and limited economic opportunities, is poised for transformative change under the government’s Big Push agenda.

President Mahama announced a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate the Wa-Tumu-Bolgatanga trunk road, construct new roads along the Techiman-Wenchi-Bole-Wa-Hamile corridor, resurface portions of the Sola-Fufulso road, and upgrade roads in several districts, including Wa East, Nadowli, Daffiama-Bussie-Issa, and Sissala East.

“During the campaign, we travelled on a terrible road network that has become characteristic of the Upper West Region. Work will begin very soon. In a few months, you will see contractors on all these roads,” he said.
