President John Dramani Mahama has submitted his final batch of deputy ministerial nominees to Parliament for approval, in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution.
A statement issued by Minister for Government Communications and Presidential Spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, listed four Members of Parliament nominated to serve in key ministries.
The nominees are:
• Dorcas Toffey, MP – Ministry of Transport
• James Gyakye Quayson, MP – Ministry of Foreign Affairs
• Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP – Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations
• Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP – Ministry of Health
These appointments represent the final round of deputy ministerial nominations in President Mahama’s current administration, pending parliamentary vetting and approval.
Of particular note is the nomination of Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sisala West — a move widely seen as the fulfillment of a campaign promise made by President Mahama during the 2024 general elections. At the time, Mahama pledged to appoint a minister from the Sisala West constituency if re-elected. Sukparu’s selection has therefore been welcomed by constituents as a significant recognition of the area’s loyalty and support.
