President John Dramani Mahama has instructed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to declare their assets by July 15, 2025, in line with legal requirements under Ghanaian law.
Addressing participants at an orientation and training programme for MMDCEs on Wednesday, June 18, President Mahama emphasized the importance of accountability and integrity in public service.
“In the meantime, I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders who are required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15th, all of you will have declared your assets.”
The directive follows President Mahama’s broader push for ethical leadership, having earlier warned that political appointees who failed to meet the initial May 7 deadline for asset declaration would be removed from office.
Asset declaration by public officials is mandated under the Public Office Holders (Declaration of Assets and Disqualification) Act, 1998 (Act 550).
The law requires public servants to disclose their assets and liabilities upon assuming office, helping to promote transparency and prevent corruption.
President Mahama’s renewed enforcement, many say signals his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and restoring public trust.
