The Supreme Court will on Tuesday, December 16, hear an application from Kpandai MP Mathew Nyindam seeking to overturn the Tamale High Court’s decision that annulled the December 7, 2024 parliamentary election results.
This comes after the Tamale High Court ruled in favor of NDC candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal, nullifying Nyindam’s victory.
Nyindam argues the High Court lacked jurisdiction over the petition filed by NDC candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal and is seeking a judicial review to quash the ruling and all related proceedings.
Following the High Court judgment, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) secured a stay of execution to prevent the Electoral Commission and the NDC from acting on the annulment pending the Supreme Court’s decision.
The NPP said the party will await the court’s verdict before deciding its next steps, vowing to act firmly depending on the outcome.
Meanwhile, a recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics indicates that Nyindam holds a narrow lead with 50% support against Wakpal’s 46% ahead of the scheduled rerun election, though the contest remains statistically tight within the margin of error.
