A section of Kennedy Agyapong’s supporters is reportedly urging him to step down from the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) “Thank You Tour,” citing growing doubts about the effectiveness of his campaign and concerns over his recent public utterances.
Sources close to Agyapong’s camp reveal that morale among his core supporters has dwindled following recent events in Sunyani and Bantama. In Sunyani, Agyapong’s remarks reportedly sparked discontent even among his own team, with one insider admitting, “We all thought we had managed to rebrand Ken, but his comments in Sunyani proved otherwise. It’s clear he hasn’t developed the emotional intelligence necessary for national leadership.”
The supporter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that the fallout from the Sunyani incident has dealt a significant blow to the campaign’s momentum. “What happened in Sunyani sank the campaign. It’s now hard to convince anyone to take Ken seriously ahead of the NPP Presidential Primaries.”
Compounding the situation is the controversy surrounding a recent incident in Bantama, where it was initially reported that Agyapong’s supporters were victims of violence. However, according to another party insider, Kwasi Sarfo, the situation has been misrepresented. “The narrative has been skewed. What really happened doesn’t paint us as victims. After Sunyani, we agreed it might be time to find a dignified way to step away from the tour — maybe even consider exiting the race or adopting a new strategy altogether.”
The growing internal discontent highlights a turning point in Kennedy Agyapong’s political journey as his team reevaluates its direction ahead of the crucial 2026 NPP presidential Primaries.
