The newly appointed Board of Directors of the Ghana National Gas Limited Company has on Thursday, May 22 commenced a two-day familiarization tour of the company’s key facilities in the Western Region.
The tour, chaired by Kofi Totobi Quakyi, aimed at equipping the new board with first-hand insights into Ghana Gas’ operations and infrastructure.

It started with a courtesy visit to the Ghana Gas Processing Plant (GPP1) at Atuabo, where the Board was briefed on the plant’s operations and met with departmental heads to assess the company’s current status.
As part of the visit, the Board paid a courtesy call on Nsein Paramount Chief, Awulae Agyenfi Kwame, who also serves as a member of the Board.
They proceeded to the stalled LPG Gas Bottling Plant at Axim, engaging in extensive discussions about the challenges facing the project.

Ghana Gas, in a statement on Friday, May 23 stated, During the tour, the team paid a courtesy call on Nsein Paramount Chief Awulae Agyenfi Kwame, a Board member. They then visited the stalled LPG Gas Bottling Plant at Axim, where they held in-depth discussions and briefings. The Board also inspected the completed but unfurnished Gas Lodge, an accommodation facility for senior staff and top management members. Additionally, they visited the trauma Center facility, which has not been operationalized despite being fully equipped with modern machinery. The Board expressed its surprise at the facility’s non-operational status, considering it was part of the $1 billion loan contracted by the late Prof. Mills/Mahama Administration in 2011. They pledged to give the project prompt attention, ensuring its operationalization within a few weeks.
It added, “The team also inspected a fully sponsored ongoing 20-bed mini hospital at Ayinasi and commended the technical team at the GPP1 for their hard work in managing the complex plant for over a decade. The tour concluded with a staff meeting at the Gas complex, where the staff pledged their unflinching support to the new management and Board. The Board reiterated its commitment to the “reset agenda” of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, focusing on minimizing waste and generating necessary inflows to support government plans, including the construction of the second phase of the Gas Plant (GPP2).”
