Preparations are underway for a grand farewell to Ghanaian Highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, whose final funeral rites are scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The announcement, made by the Fosu family described the event as “a celebration of a legendary life,” inviting Ghanaians from all walks of life to honour a man whose music shaped the country’s sound for over four decades.
“Come join family, friends, fans, and well-wishers as we bid a dignified farewell to an icon whose music touched generations,” the statement read.
The funeral will bring together top musicians, industry figures, and admirers to celebrate Daddy Lumba’s lasting impact on Ghanaian culture.
Known for timeless hits such as *‘Yentie Obiaa,’ ‘Aben Wo Ha,’ and ‘Theresa,’ the multiple award-winning artist’s songs defined an era and continue to influence a new generation of performers.
Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra, aged 60.
His death sent shockwaves across the country, drawing emotional tributes from fellow musicians, politicians, and fans who hailed him as a national treasure.
The Presidency has since pledged a state-assisted burial, underscoring the musician’s immense contribution to Ghana’s creative industry and cultural identity.
