The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has announced that it will continue collecting approved tolls and fees throughout the Christmas and New Year period to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of essential city services.
The assembly has also activated 24-hour sanitation and security operations to manage the increased activity that comes with the festive season.
In a statement, AMA emphasized that toll and fee collection will continue on all days, including weekends, as part of efforts to sustain critical services.
“The decision is informed by the need to match increased commercial and social activity during the season with uninterrupted services, particularly in sanitation and public safety,” the release noted.
The assembly has deployed continuous sanitation operations, routine clean-ups, and rapid response teams across public spaces, markets, transport terminals, and major roads. Security personnel have also been placed on duty around the clock to maintain public safety during peak festivities.
The public, including traders, transport operators, and market users, is urged to comply fully with AMA regulations and bye-laws. They are encouraged to insist on official receipts or tickets for all payments and report any unauthorized collections to the assembly.
AMA also reminded residents to use approved waste disposal points and avoid practices that can lead to clogged drains and flooding.
