NDC National Vice Chairman Sofo Azorka has warned his NPP counterpart, Osman Masawudu, against insulting leaders of the governing party during the ongoing Akwatia by-election.
“Masawudu is a small boy. He should not dare insult NDC leaders. If he wants to do politics, he should face his NPP,” Azorka declared at the Akwatia lorry station on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
His outburst came after Masawudu, who was granting an interview to journalists, reportedly made reference to Azorka in his comments — a move that provoked the NDC executive’s reaction.
The confrontation briefly created tension at the scene but police intervened swiftly to restore calm.
Despite the incident, voting in the by-election has remained largely peaceful, with 52,328 registered voters expected to cast their ballots across 119 polling stations.
The contest is mainly between the NDC’s Bernard Baidoo and the NPP’s Solomon Asumadu, with polls predicting NDC’s Baidoo winning.
