The Accra Circuit Court has remanded Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, into police custody until Friday, September 12, 2025.
The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was arraigned on Tuesday, September 9, on charges of offensive conduct conducive to the breach of the peace.
The court said the remand would allow police to continue investigations.
The police in a Facebook post wrote, “COURT REMANDS MR. KWAME BAFFOE @ ABRONYE. The Ghana Police Service today, 9th September, 2025 arraigned Mr. Kwame Baffoe @ Abronye before the Circuit Court, Accra. The court remanded him into Police custody to reappear on Friday, 12th September, 2025.”
His lawyers have accused the police of denying them access to their client and handling the case “unprofessionally.”
The development comes just days after it emerged that Abronye had applied for political asylum abroad, citing persecution, unlawful arrests, and threats to his life.
Civil society voices, including IMANI Africa’s Franklin Cudjoe, have urged the police to investigate the claims.
