The High Court in Wa has handed a life sentence to Shariff Abdulai, also known as ‘Cristos’, for the murder of Issah Yahaya and 22 other victims.
The convict pleaded guilty to killing sixteen people in Wa, five in Bole, and one each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.
The arrest of Abdulai followed sustained, intelligence-led operations and investigations by the Ghana Police Service.
He was apprehended on October 6, 2025, and subsequently arraigned before the High Court on March 4, 2026, after committal from the District Magistrate Court.
Upon his plea, His Lordship Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi sentenced Abdulai to life imprisonment in hard labour. The convict is expected to serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.
The Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, stating, “The Command reaffirm its unwavering commitment to uphold the rule of law and will not relent in the efforts in ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere for law-abiding citizens.”
