Three suspects have been shot dead in Ashaiman after an attempted robbery at a private residence was foiled by the Tema Regional Police Command.
According to a press release issued on December 22, 2025, police responded early on Sunday, December 21, to intelligence about a robbery in progress at Community 24 in the Adjei-Kojo District.
Upon arrival, officers encountered six young men wearing face masks and hoodies, armed with machetes, firearms, and other weapons.
The suspects reportedly fired at the police, who returned fire. Three of the suspects were fatally wounded and later pronounced dead, while the remaining three fled the scene with apparent injuries.
Police recovered three face masks, three machetes, and an unregistered Royal 125 motorbike from the scene. The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the Police Hospital for autopsy and identification.
ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Region, commended the officers involved and called on residents to continue providing timely information to support law enforcement efforts and maintain community safety.
Hospitals and clinics in the area have been alerted to report any males presenting with gunshot wounds as investigations continue.
