Tension erupted at Yilo Krobo Senior High School (YIKROSEC) on Saturday, October 31, 2026, following a reported violent confrontation involving students of the school and Somanya Technical Institute (STI).
Preliminary information indicates that the incident followed an earlier misunderstanding between a YIKROSEC student and a student of Somanya Technical Institute in Somanya.
Reports suggest that the STI student allegedly mobilised some colleagues and other town youth, who subsequently stormed the YIKROSEC campus in what is believed to have been a retaliatory attack.
Security personnel responded swiftly to restore order.
However, the group reportedly fled after spotting the police.
In a subsequent development, seven male students have reportedly been identified as suspected ringleaders of the incident.
The Headmaster of Somanya Technical Institute is said to have assured the police that he would present the identified students to security authorities on Monday, November 2, 2026, following an official invitation.
The situation is currently reported to be under control, with security personnel maintaining a presence in the area to prevent further disturbances and ensure public safety.
Authorities have urged students, residents and the general public to remain calm and allow the appropriate security agencies to investigate and address the matter.
