Breast cancer awareness advocates are urging the public to prioritise regular health checks and early detection, stressing that the disease affects not only patients but also their families, workplaces and communities.
The call forms part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month organized by Margins Group.
According to Margins, the awareness sought to raise awareness of the disease, encourage timely medical attention and promote support for people living with breast cancer.
Margins Group say breast cancer affects both women and men, although it is more common among women, and emphasise the need to look beyond a diagnosis to recognise the individual, relationships and aspirations of every patient.
The management of Margins Group noted that a breast cancer diagnosis can have far-reaching effects on loved ones and communities, making emotional support, understanding and access to appropriate healthcare essential throughout the treatment journey.
Early detection, the management stressed, can improve the chances of successful treatment by allowing the disease to be identified before it advances.
Members of the public are therefore encouraged to pay attention to changes in their bodies, seek medical advice when they notice unusual symptoms and consult qualified health professionals about appropriate screening.
The awareness message also highlights the importance of open conversations about breast health to help reduce stigma and encourage people to seek medical care without delay.
It urges the public not to define individuals solely by their diagnosis, but to recognise their identities, experiences and hopes beyond the disease.
The campaign is anchored on the message: “Every Story Is Unique. Every Journey Matters,” reinforcing the need for early detection, compassion and support for everyone affected by breast cancer.
