Commercial transport operators in Ghana have announced plans to embark on a nationwide strike on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, in protest against the TRAFFITECH-GH traffic monitoring and enforcement system.
The unions say the system unfairly penalises commercial drivers, particularly those who are fined for picking up and dropping off passengers at designated locations occupied by traders.
According to the operators, traders have taken over spaces allocated for passenger pick-up and drop-off activities, leaving drivers with limited access to the designated areas.
They argue that it is unfair for drivers to face penalties when they are unable to use the designated spaces because of the activities of traders.
The unions are therefore protesting against what they describe as the unfair application of the traffic enforcement system and are calling attention to the challenges drivers face under the current arrangements.
The planned industrial action is expected to affect commercial transport services across the country on the announced date.
